Laurus Academy partners with various community resources to enhance the academic program. Over 200 community contacts are made yearly through the school’s Student Support Coordinator to involve the community in the programs of the school. One particular partnership of the school is the Michigan First Credit Union which provides Laurus students with the opportunity to operate a student-run Credit Union at the school. Students are able to make deposits once a week and participate in money-management events, thereby gaining direct hands-on experiences that will equip them to succeed in today’s financial market.
Laurus Academy students are taught from the earliest of grades about the importance of showing good citizenship and doing their part to be socially responsible and positively impact the world they live in. These teachings extend beyond the home and the classroom and into the community through a variety of hands-on community service projects throughout the year.
